I absolutely adore the name Gabrielle. It was one of the first names on my list when we found out that we were pregnant with Anastasia. Unfortunately it was also one of the first that Paul crossed off my list.

Beautiful Gabrielle slept like an angel throughout our session. Here she is on her 5th day of life.

One of the things I appreciate most about being a newborn photographer is that I am often reminded to recognise the beauty that surrounds us. From time to time we each need to slow down and take a moment to drink in the love, peace and joy that is brought to us by the people in our life.

Gorgeous little Samuel is certainly a strong-willed little guy. It took nearly two hours of rocking, jiggling and shooshing to get him to finally nod off to sleep. We thought we had him asleep about 5 times but then he would muster up all his strength and open his eyes again. Little did he realise that I am far more determined the him. We ended up getting some beautiful shots.

A very fun session - with two super fun girls. We spent the afternoon walking around down town and found some great backdrops. The whole time we were praying that the rain would stay away, and it did for about half the session, but we kept going anyway while it was sprinkling on us and we got some great shots.

This is my sister. Isn't she gorgeous.

Nicole is my youngest sister and the last one of us to be getting married. She had her engagement party a couple of weekends ago and I couldn't pass up the chance to get some beautiful photos of her and her fiance Johnny. These photos where taken just before the engagement party. As we were driving to Warwick where the party was, rain drops starting to fall on our windscreen and I was getting a bit worried, but the rain stayed away and the sky was stunning.

I got my christmas shopping done just in time this year. The shops closed at 6pm and I walked out of there at 5.45. With all the commercialism that comes with the season it is easy to forget the real meaning of Christmas as we get caught up in the buying and rushing around. It is my prayer that each of you will have a wonderful time relaxing and enjoying the company of family and friends over these holidays. But most importantly I pray that you will take the time to consider the gift of eternal life that Jesus Christ has offered to all of us.

We're going on a bear hunt... | Toowoomba baby and child photographer

A little while back we had an awesome weekend as we joined some other families from Anastasia's kindy on a camping trip. The kids had a great time running around the campsite playing with their friends, and swimming in the rockpool. The highlight for Anastasia was heading off into the darkness armed with a lantern singing "We're going on a bear hunt, we're going to catch a big one...." While we were there I thought I would take advantage of the wonderful location and get some photos, however Anastasia was not impressed that I dragged her away from the boys she was playing with and let me know quite clearly what she thought of my 'great idea.' My camera was filled with photos like these....

After a little bit of bribery I was able to get this one.

Bundle of Joy

Harrison is the new little bundle of joy for my friend Christy and her husband Sam. Christy and her daughter Amaya were a part of the playgroup that we have belonged to since Anastasia was just a couple of months old. We call Christy the baby whisperer. If we ever had an unsettled baby we would pass him or her over to Christy and she would have them settled in a matter of minutes. Unfortunately for us their little family moved out of town a while back, and we have missed them enormously. I was so excited when baby Harrison arrived and Christy asked me to come and take some photos of him. Here he is at just 5 days old.

Now for some photos. I have known this family since Anastasia was just a couple of months old. Meg (the girls Mum) and I belong to a wonderful playgroup that has been together for nearly three and a half years and our children have grown up seeing each other every week. It is amazing to think back over the years to when we would all sit on the floor with a tiny babies asleep in our laps. So much has changed, and our oldest ones are all beginning pre prep next year. It was so great to be able to capture this family before they head up to the Northern Territory at the end of the year. We will certainly miss you.

Last weekend we had a visit from Paul's brother Trav and his beautiful wife Alicia who live up in Cairns. It was so great to see them and to meet our little nephew Harry for the first time. Anastasia and Zoe absolutely loved Harry and the poor little guy didn't get left alone for most of the time they were visiting. I'm sure he was releaved to have his personal space back when they left.

While they were here we took the opportunity to get some photos of Harry. I know Grandma has been waiting to see these.

Alicia bought the girls these adorable little fairy outfits. Anastasia has been wearing hers everyday and was so upset when I told her I had to wash it.

This amazing mummy had her Maternity photos done just in time. The next night her twin boys decided they were ready to come into the world whether their parents were ready or not. The first of the twin boys was in such a hurry that his mum didn't even make it to the hospital and he was delivered by his dad on the bathroom floor. Their amazing story even made it to the pages of the local paper which you can read about here.

An afternoon in the park

Before my wisdom teeth surgery last week, I spent a wonderful afternoon in the park with this little girl and her family. She was such a delight to photograph with so many smiles for her Mum and Dad.

Now, for some photos. We took these ones at Queens Park in Toowoomba about a week after the Carnival of Flowers. Most of the flowers were still out and looking beautiful. I made a deal with the girls that afternoon: Spend half an hour with Mummy taking photos in the flower park and then we can spend half an hour playing at the train park. It worked beautifully and we all enjoyed a wonderful afternoon.

I've heard people say that all newborns look the same. Well I'm going to have to disagree. Out of each and every baby I have photographed there has been something unique about them that has stood out and made me remember them, whether it is the fuzzy hair on the top of their ears or the shape of their nose or the extra little creases of skin on their face. For Leah, I just couldn't get enough of her perfectly chubby little chin.

The other day I was doing some test shots in my newly set up studio and my girls came in to see what I was doing. Well, I just couldn't pass up the chance to get some shots of them. They don't let me point the camera at them very often without a tongue poking out at me or a cranky face, so I was very pleased when I saw that I mangaed to get a couple of nice ones.

I don't normally do couples photography, but when Ness (known as Nessie by my 3 yr old) asked I couldn't say no. Kris is from the United State's and was over here for a week visiting Ness and meeting her parents for the first time. They didn't have many photos of the two of them together, and being that they are in a long distance relationship it seems so much more important to have some visual memories of their special times together.

Ness I hope you like your sneak peak. The rest of your gallery should be finished by the middle of the week.

This beautiful little girl had her photos taken at 10 days old. She was so good to me and slept straight through the session. I love close-ups of faces. There is so much detail in the face. I remember when my girls where just born I would lay next to them on my bed simply staring at those precious details and thanking God for allowing me to feel that much joy.

She made me work

This little girl certainly made me work for the photos I got of her. Never before have I had a baby that has simply refused to go to sleep. Each time we thought she was asleep I would go to put her down and she would start crying again. We did mange to get some nice photos in between all that crying though.

I absolutely love working with newborn babies. I love the way they curl their little legs up under them, their tiny little toes, and their squishiness. Chubby babies are especially gorgeous and this little guy was no exception. Baby Mark was just a week old when we took these photos, and he slept beautifully for us.

3 Beautiful Girls | Toowoomba Portrait Photographer

I have known these three beautiful girls for quite a few years now, since they first arrived in Australia. Their mother has just returned to Sudan this week to visit family and wanted some photos of her children to take with her. These three beautiful girls came out with me last saturday afternoon for a photoshoot at picnic point. We had such a great time taking these photos. All three girls were naturals in front of the camera.
